What is this group about? Who is Utada Hikaru?~
How could you not know who Utada is?! She is a Japanese singer and songwriter, arranger, and record producer.
She is known for her two theme songs for the video game series, 'Kingdom Hearts', with the titled tracks, 'Simple and Clean', and 'Sanctuary' in America.
Her debut album in Japan in 1999, titled 'First Love' became the most best-selling album in Oricon history. Ever since then, she has had three of her Japanese studio albums on the list of Top 10 best selling albums in Japan.
She has had 14 number one singles on the Oricon singles chart and is estimated to have sold 50 million albums worldwide.
Why is she called 'Hikki'?~She is known as Hikki because when she was a young girl, she used to live in New York. [She would travel back and forth from Japan to New York frequently]
Other kids had difficulties pronouncing her name which is Hikaru, so they started to call her Hikki instead. And that name started to travel to her Japanese fans as she grew to become a well-known star in Japan.
